Founded in 1998, Myers Ink is owned by Leslie R. Myers. She is an award-winning, veteran journalist with extensive experience in marketing, public relations and the media.
She is a graduate of the University of Missouri-Columbia School of Journalism, which widely is considered the top journalism school in the world. Born and reared in Missouri, Myers developed her professional career in Jackson, Miss., as a long-time columnist and arts critic for a major daily newspaper, The Clarion-Ledger.
In 1998, she was recruited to become Director of Public Relations and promote 80 artists for Malaco Records, a major independent music recording company based in Jackson. Within 1½ years, Myers helped Malaco attract three Grammy Award nominations, an all-time milestone for Malaco.
There, Myers fell in love with marketing and the concept of making stars of her clients. Instead of being in the daily limelight herself as a newspaper columnist, it felt more rewarding to showcase and market others’ work.
Thus, Myers founded her own Myers Ink marketing company, first as a part-time enterprise to handle special projects. Later, while Myers was in charge of media relations for a major medical center, she attracted increased business as well as national and international media coverage for physicians and the institution. She proved skillful in promoting their medical “stars” and business ventures in a subtle but highly effective manner – preserving the traditional images of executives and medical professionals in the process.
A few years ago, Myers moved back to her native Missouri to live in St. Louis, where several family members reside. Myers Ink, of course, also moved – and, since then, has expanded to serve a wide variety of local and out-of-state clients within the United States.
From day one, Myers always marketed her clients in a different manner from the ad agency
competition. Too often, ad agencies’ cookie cutter approaches to marketing seem all about making money for the agencies and not about the welfare of their clients.
